Why it matters here
A Houston floor is not a Chicago floor
Most flooring advice online is written for homes with basements and crawlspaces. Houston is slab-on-grade, humid, and floods. That changes how a subfloor gets prepped, which underlayment goes down, and which products are worth putting in your house at all. It’s the part most installers skip, and it’s the part that decides whether a floor is still flat in five years.
Moisture starts underneath
Concrete slabs release moisture for years. We check for it before a plank goes down, and we spec the vapor barrier around what we find rather than what’s convenient.
Flat beats fast
A slab that’s out of level telegraphs through the floor and opens seams. We grind and level first. It’s the step that gets skipped when someone quotes you a two-day job on a five-day floor.
Waterproof is not a footnote
Quality LVP won’t swell, warp or buckle from water at the plank. In a city that floods, that’s the whole reason to choose it over laminate or engineered wood.

Demo, prep, underlayment, install, transitions and trim. Same crew from the first day to the last, and we clean up behind ourselves.
